Abstrak

This study aims to determine Teachers' Perceptions of the Implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in English Language Learning at Madrasah Aliyah Mathla'ul Anwar Pusat Menes Pandeglang - Banten in the Academic Year 2023/2024. This study used a qualitative approach with a data analysis design. The data collection method used is triangulation, namely observation, interviews and documentation. Data were obtained from observations by directly observing an object found in the research environment. Interviews were conducted with the principal, vice principal for curriculum and English teacher. Documentation was carried out by immortalizing the interview process and writing it down in the form of notes. Data analysis was carried out to analyze important findings in accordance with the research objectives. The research findings show that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum received a positive perception, this can be seen from the results of the interview which were considered supportive of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. In addition, the structure of the Merdeka Curriculum in learning in schools is different from the previous curriculum. The difference occurs in the Learning Method which is changed to student center, then the learning device is changed from lesson plan to teaching module, and the difference also occurs in the teaching and learning activity hours which are reduced by one hour for the Pancasila student profile strengthening program. Based on the findings of this study, the Merdeka Curriculum received a positive perception because it focuses on increasing student creativity, meanwhile children are also considered to be able to explore their own knowledge and abilities because the Merdeka curriculum is needed to be more students independent. This finding also hopes that other researcher can analyze or maximize research on the application of the Merdeka Curriculum in English learning.
