This research aimed to analyze the types of illocutionary acts and determine which type most commonly appears in the main characters’ utterances in A Man Called Otto movie. The research used a qualitative approach and conducted content or document analysis. Austin and Searle's theories were used by the researcher to address the research questions. The researcher collected data using observation, documentation, and observation checklist methods on the script and movie of A Man Called Otto. Data analysis techniques used by the researcher were data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusio. The Findings showed that all types of illocutionary acts were found in the utterances of all the main characters in the movie, namely representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. Subject A (Otto) was found to have 260 utterances, subject B had 100 utterances, and subject C (Sonya) had 31 utterances that included all the types of illocutionary acts. The type of illocutionary act that most commonly appears in the main characters’ utterances in the movie A Man Called Otto is representative, with a total of 173 instances, followed by 126 directives, 55 expressives, 24 declaratives, and 13 commisives. It can be concluded that there are all types of illocutionary acts, with the representative act the most commonly appears in the main characterrs’ in A Man Called Otto movie.
