ABSTRACT
Luthviyati, 2024. An Analysis Of Grammatical Errors On Writing Recount Text At the Eleventh Grade Students 0f SMAN 1 Cijaku, Lebak Regency” a research paper of English Education Departement Faculty of Education and Teacher Training University Of Mathlaul Anwar Banten.
This research aimed to identify the types of grammatical errors in the recount texts of Eleventh Grade students at SMAN 1 Cijaku, Lebak Regency, and to determine which types of errors occurred most frequently. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzed students' answer sheets, focusing on errors related to omission, addition, substitution, and permutation. The results showed that the students made a total of 50 errors, consisting of 17 major errors (34%) and 33 minor errors (66%). Addition errors were the most common, with 7 major and 3 minor errors, followed by substitution (5 major, 3 minor), omission (6 major, 4 minor), and permutation (4 major, 2 minor). The study found that students struggled most with addition and omission errors, where they often added unnecessary words or left out important ones, affecting the clarity of their writing. Although minor errors were less frequent, they still impacted the overall quality of the texts. In conclusion, the study suggests that students need to focus on improving their understanding of sentence structure and word usage to reduce both major and minor errors, ultimately improving the quality of their writing.
