Nida Hayati (2024). The effect of short story on student’s reading comprehension at the eighth grade students of Mts. Abdi bina insani Jiput Pandeglang in Academic year 2023/2024

This research aims to examine the effect of using short stories on students' reading comprehension. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design on two groups of students, namely the experimental group which used short stories as a learning medium and the control group which used the comic learning method. The research consisted of class VIII students at one of the Mts Abdi Bina Insani Jiput Data was collected through reading comprehension tests given before and after treatment. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant increase in reading comprehension in the group that used short stories compared to the control group. The use of short stories can actually increase interest in reading and make it easier for students to understand reading content because short stories generally have an interesting plot and language that is easier to understand. This research concludes that short stories are effective in improving students' reading comprehension. It is hoped that the results of this research can be a reference for teachers in choosing more creative and effective learning strategies, especially in improving students' reading skills.
