The use of slang words among teenagers is currently very widespread so that almost all teenagers use slang words in everyday life and on social media Facebook. The use of slang words can make it difficult for the other person to understand, especially for people who are not used to slang. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a data collection technique in the form of a questionnaire. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires. The study was conducted in classes XI.5 and XI.7 of SMAN 12 Pandeglang. The purpose of conducting research on the use of slang words by students at this school was to find out the reasons for using slang words and to find out the types of slang words used by students on social media Facebook, as well as to find out the meaning and find the meaning of slang words used by students in classes XI.5 and XI.7 SMAN 12 Pandeglang in the 2024/2025 academic year. The results of the study showed that there were a total of eighteen slang words commonly used by students in grades XI.5 and XI.7 of SMAN 12 Pandeglang. Ten of them were found in grade XI.5 students. A total of seven slang word data were included in the category of slang language patterns in the form of words, three data were included in the slang language pattern in the form of abbreviations. No data was found for the type of slang language pattern in the form of numbers, phrases, and sentences. Then in grade XI.7, eight slang word data were found. Two of them were included in the slang language pattern in the form of words, six slang word data were included in the slang language pattern in the form of abbreviations. No data was found for the type of slang language pattern in the form of numbers, phrases, and sentences. The positive impact of using this slang language is that students become more creative. Regardless of whether this slang language is annoying or not, as long as it is used in the right situation, the right media, and the right communicator. While the negative impact is that it damages the meaning of good and correct language rules.
